Heavy Horse World Summer issue now at design stage

It has been an incredibly difficult time for all since the coronavirus covid-19 pandemic hit our lives, and at Heavy Horse World it has not been without its challenges. We have been focused on producing a great Summer issue (out 1 June), even without the National Shire Horse Show as the central feature at this time of year. And we have some great photos to include, many from our readers after the call went out last month. We hope the articles and stories in the pages of your magazine will provide some enjoyment for all our readers and reassure you that life will return to some sort of normality soon. There are many highlights in the coming issue, but just to focus on a few, look forward to reading about working horses in urban spaces; how one heavy horse owner survived the Winter flooding; a profile of one of our most prominent overseas Shire breeders; and the latest in William Castle’s series on jobs for working horses. The call goes out for more Suffolk owners to keep the breed sustainable; get a really practical insight into the work of show stewards, and enjoy a number of first-class features focusing on heavy horse history. Now is the time to renew your subscription if it’s due (you will recently have received a renewal form) and encourage friends and family to take out a new subscription to enjoy some respite from our strange everyday life with a great read about heavy horses! See the subscriptions page here. This picture from the issue shows how nature is carrying on regardless – find out more about this foal and friends born at Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre in the Summer issue.
